My name is Ryan Strauss and I just got hired as a Student Maker at Studio M. I’m in the Class of 2020 and have yet to declare a major. As soon as I saw that Studio M was hiring, I knew it would be the perfect job. I have loved making things my whole life, whether it be playing with legos or building a computer program, so I jumped at the chance to continue doing it at Davidson.
Throughout middle and high school I worked on a number of school projects that align with what Studio M is all about. To name a few, I built a potato cannon, trebuchet, and homemade drone. I created a computer program that takes class attendance by using an RFID scanner, and I got to take advantage of my school’s 3D printer for numerous projects.
After my first day working in Studio M, I can tell that it’s going to be the perfect place to continue making. I refreshed my memory on the 3D printer and started learning about the laser cutter, and we started talking about ways to update the website.
Great first day and looking forward to many more!
